About this class This course teaches and promotes best practices for Service Oriented Architecture using the IBM SOA Foundation, featuring the use of Rational Software products in conjunction with the appropriate WebSphere and Tivoli software products. Students follow the Rational Unified Process to identify, specify and realise an SOA solution. Who will the lesson benefit? - Describe IBM's SOA reference architecture and IBM SOA Foundation
- Describe programming model and standards
- Describe integrations
- Describe SOA governance and identify roles and responsibilities of architects within SOA governance
- Describe IBM's SOA Entry Points: Service creation scenario, Service connectivity scenario and business process management scenario, and the business drivers for these scenarios
- Apply the process framework offered by RUP to the design and development of BPM SOA using Service Creation and Service Connectivity as necessary.
- Integrate and choreograph a set of services.
- Describe how to realize services and mediations using Service Component Architecture, Service Data Object, and Message Data Object based programming model.

- Monitor and Manage a SOA solution.
What prerequisites are required This course is not intended for infrastructure architects. To benefit from this course, students should be experienced in: - Creating enterprise application architectures and integration architectures using Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and/or Business Process Modeling (BPM)
- Architecting Web services and J2EE based solutions
- Applying Relational Unified Process (RUP) based software development methodologies and techniques
- Modeling software architectures using UML2
- Tools and runtime including Rational Software Architect, WebSphere Business Modeler, WebSphere Integration Developer, WebSphere Process Server
