About this class

This course provides you with the knowledge required by a site administrator of a Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) site collection. The link between a WSS site collection and Microsoft SharePoint Products and Technologies: SharePoint Portal Server 2003 (SPS) is also described.

In a series of instructor-led exercises, you will discover how to manage and administer a WSS site collection, including adding users, defining groups, setting permissions, creating and deleting top-level sites and subsites, creating and managing site content, creating custom views and columns, applying themes, creating and reusing templates, tracking site usage and configuring the interaction between a site collection and SharePoint Portal Server

Who will the lesson benefit?

The course is intended for information workers who need to maintain and administer sites using SharePoint Services

What prerequisites are required

  • The delegate is assumed to be an information worker rather than a system administrator, and so the course does not cover administration of SharePoint Portal Server, the underlying web server or the database
