About this class

After completing this course, students will be able to monitor and troubleshoot client performance and connectivity; monitor and troubleshoot mail flow; monitor and troubleshoot messaging servers; troubleshoot calendars and public folders; monitor and troubleshoot external and additional services; identify trends in a messaging system.

Who will the lesson benefit?

This course provides students with the knowledge and skills to monitor and troubleshoot an Exchange Server 2007 messaging system. It is designed for experienced enterprise-level messaging professionals who have at least 3 years experience working in the Information Technology field, including administering Exchange Servers.

At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:

What prerequisites are required

Before attending this course, students must have the following pre-requisites:

  • Understanding of server hardware.
  • Basic knowledge of server and Exchange performance characteristics.
  • Experience using Perfmon command, MDBVUE tool, Active Directory Management tools, telnet commands, nslookup command, Internet Information Services (IIS) Admin, Windows PowerShell, Exchange QueueViewer, Exchange Management Console, Event Viewer, Outlook, ADMAP command.
  • Working knowledge of Windows server operating system.
  • Working knowledge of network technologies.
  • Working knowledge of Active Directory.
  • Working knowledge of Exchange Server 2003.
  • Understanding of Exchange transport technologies.
  • Completion of Courses 5047 and 5049.

Unit 1: Introduction to Exchange Server Monitoring and Troubleshooting

After completing this unit, students will be able to explain how to monitor Exchange servers using Microsoft Operations Manager (MOM) and explain an Exchange troubleshooting model.
