About this class

The course introduces the delegates to the fundamental skills required to build and use a simple Access database. It is specifically designed for the first time user and those that are self-taught. It will act as an ideal stepping-stone to attending the more task based Access courses we offer.

The foundation skills will be explored through the creation of an Access database encompassing several tables (not related) and forms for data entry and manipulation. Simple queries and reports will be used to select and print reports.

The course is designed to provide an understanding and use of the four main objects (Tables, Forms, Queries & Reports). Each section will provide the delegate with the knowledge to be able to be productive on their return to work.

Who will the lesson benefit?

  • New users who are starting to use Access for the first time and require a basic understanding of the product.
  • Current Data Entry Users who would like to expand their knowledge into the other elements of Access.

What delegates will learn

By the end of the course the delegate will be able to:
  • Understand the concept of database design
  • Create tables to store data
  • Produce forms for data entry
  • Append, find and edit data in a table and form
  • Produce queries to extract only specific records
  • Share the data with others on a report

What prerequisites are required

  • No prior knowledge of Access is required
  • Delegates need to be familiar with working in a Microsoft Windows environment i.e. mouse skills, working with multiple windows and screen elements such as scroll bars, menu bars and toolbars.
