About this class

Essential AJAX for ASP.NET 2.0 provides an intensive introduction to Microsoft's ASP.NET AJAX framework (previously known as Atlas). By the end of the course, you will know exactly when and where to use AJAX, how to integrate it into both new and old applications, and even how to extend it to give you the exact functionally you need for your application.

Slides, lab activities and commentary all combine to show you not just how the technology works, but how to use it effectively. You will leave with a clear view of why the ASP.NET AJAX framework exists and what you can do with it. You will also learn all of the details required for designing and building robust applications that take maximum advantage of this exciting new framework.

Please note that this course is intended for experienced ASP.NET 2.0 developers. Experience with client-side JavaScript would be helpful, but is not required.

Who will the lesson benefit?

If you are an experienced ASP.NET developer and you're being asked to take your Web applications to the next level, this course is for you. You should already be familiar with ASP.NET's server-side control model, but you don't need to have much experience with client-side scripting with JavaScript as this class will give you plenty of experience doing just that. You do need, though, a strong grasp of general programming fundamentals and a willingness to ask questions during the lectures and experiment during the labs.

What prerequisites are required

This course assumes you have a strong programming background, a good understanding of the ASP.NET 2.0 framework, as well as a good grasp of client-side Web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Having experience with ASP.NET 2.0 assumes, of course, that you also have a grasp of either C# or VB.NET.
