About this class

This course is designed for IT support staff who will be doing the day-to-day management of their MOM 2005 infrastructure. It will concentrate on best practise for handling management packs, covering updates, change management and creating them for in-house applications. It will explore the various ways of getting data into MOM via WMI objects and events, scripts and all the other providers. It will also cover long-term management of the System Center Data Warehouse and creating custom reports. The course will be delivered as an interactive lecture including many hands-on exercises, which guide the students through the day to day management of MOM, the creation of management packs, and the customisation of reports.

Creating Management Packs in Detail

  • Computer Attributes and Computer Groups

Scripting MOM

  • The Script. Context object
  • Generating events, raising alerts and gathering performance/informational data via script
